Green Card Common Scams

posted in: Green Card 0

Each year millions of people from all over the world take part in the official American Green Card Lottery, and even more applying for a Green Card due to the family ties, work, investment etc. It covers a wide range of people, from an ordinary countryside worker to an entrepreneur in a big city.

Where there’s demand, there’s supply. As a result, thousands of intermediary organizations are now offering a big list of services related to the Green Card.

There are honest brokers who tell their clients what are the real chances to get a Green Card based on their personal records (education, activities, skills) and country statistics; but there are also those, who give empty promises, even guaranteed victory in the Green Card lottery, only to keep the client on the hook and get as much money as possible.

No State organizations will ask you to send money through Western Union, PayPal, Google check out and direct bank transfers.

In fact, the Green Card Fraud theme is very voluminous. Our team has collected a lot of interesting stories about unscrupulous intermediary organizations and private consultants who lure out thousands, sometimes tens of thousands, of dollars from naive Green Card hunters.

If you want to learn more, follow our updates, where we will certainly tell the most heartbreaking stories about fraudulent Green Card schemes.

The list of the most common Green Card scams:

  • facilitators who claim to be the U.S. government organizations. They can charge registration fees for the Green Card lottery, while unclearly formulating their duties to the client, as well as giving ambiguous promises that they eventually interpret in their own way;

US government web pages always end with  .gov

Non-government websites end with .com .org .net

  • Notifications by e-mail.  If you find an e-mail in your inbox, where it’s stating you won a Green Card, delete it as  a spam. All notifications will be sent ONLY to your postal address written in your application;
  • Some bad facilitators extort money for providing the registration number in case of winning the Green Card Lottery. When registering you in the lottery, facilitators provide their own postal address in your application form. This way, if your application is selected during the Green Card Lottery, such intermediaries will demand money in exchange of the registration data, necessary for obtaining a green card;
  • Money transfers. No state organizations will ask you to send money through Western Union, PayPal, Google check out and direct bank transfers.

These are the common tricks which hundreds of thousands of people come across each year, dealing with questionable organizations.

There are honest brokers who tell their clients what are the real chances to get a Green Card based on their personal records (education, activities, skills) and country statistics; but there are also those, who give empty promises, even guaranteed victory in the Green Card lottery, only to keep the client on the hook and get as much money as possible.

Be careful!

If you are not able to fill out the application form yourself, contact the trusted organizations with unblemished reputation. Find reviews, consult with your friends. If someone calls your mobile phone, offers help and then asks to pay for it immediately, just hang up and block the number if possible.
