smartphone-on-tableNaturalization is a process of voluntarily acquiring citizenship or nationality of the United States if you were not born in this country. To become a naturalized U.S. citizen, you must pass the naturalization test. This test includes question on civics and history, plus English test.

To help those who are getting prepared for the test, The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released a smartphone app to take the civics part of the naturalization test. This application is available for Apple and Android platforms.

To pass civics and history test, one must answer six-out-of-ten questions correctly, which are randomly selected out of 100 available questions. These 100 questions are available for everyone who is interested online, at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services web site.

They are also available in the app, and presented in the multiple-choice test form. Though, when you pass the test itself, it is conducted as an oral exam. One may download the app in English or Spanish. Thus, this app should be helpful for those preparing for the naturalization test.

Speaking about English test, it comprises three types of testing: reading, writing, and speaking.
To pass reading test, an applicant must read one out of three sentences correctly. For the writing test, it is necessary to write one out of three sentences correctly. The ability to speak English is by estimated by the USCIS officer when you are taking naturalization interview.
