If you decide to apply for the K-1 Fiancée Fiancé Visa in 2016, you will have probably lots of questions. This article reveals the details of obtaining a U.S. visa in 2016. Today a young girl who has decided to marry the American citizen, K-1 visa gives Russian woman the opportunity to enter the U.S. for 90 days to marry an American who petitioned on the bride to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). However, if the marriage does not take place within 90 days from the date of bride’s entry into the United States, she will be obliged to leave the country and return to Russia.

Who has to file a petition? The American groom (who is a U.S. citizen and who lives in the United States) should initiate bride entering the U.S. After the petition is filed, USCIS sends the U.S. visa in the U.S. Embassy Consular Section in Russia. The Russian bride is sent the instructions that specify the procedure of passing the interview and list the precautions that the interviewee must observe when visiting the U.S. consular offices. In order to make an appointment for an interview, the bride needs to fill in and send an online application to the website of the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Russia. After sending the application the applicant receives a confirmation letter that must be printed and brought to the interview.

Concerning the required documentation for the K-1 marriage visa in 2016, the bride needs to bring the following documents to the interview (all the documents must be translated into English):

  • A confirmation letter.
  • International passport.
  • Birth certificate.
  • Criminal record.
  • The results of the medical examination (in a sealed bag).

  • Сlaim checks confirming payment of the visa fee.
  • Documents from the American groom of his material condition (a copy of the taxes declaration over the last year, bank statements, a letter from employer).

Also it’s worth mentioning about the actual timing of obtaining the K-1 visa. The bride and groom should know that the time for obtaining a visa depends basically on how quickly all the necessary documents are submitted. Processing the petition filed by the bridegroom in the U.S. takes about 15 days; then the direction of the documents from Dallas in the U.S. Embassy in Russia, and an interview with the bride is carried to the next month after the month of submission all the documents; visa is issued a few weeks later after passing the interview.
